Acis autumnalis, Acis nicaensis
sown in autumn, in containers in a cold frame or separate offsets after the leaves have died down
Sowing advice: Sow seeds at any time covering them with compost or grit 5mm deep, keeping the seed pot in a cool, well-lit spot outdoors. Artificial heat is not needed and will sometimes actually prevent germination so be very patient. Many species will only actually germinate in the spring after a good chilling or freezing in the moist seed tray in the winter. Grow on individual seedlings in small pots until they are of sufficient size to be potted on or planted out into the open ground.
Aconitum hemsleyanum
Expose to fluctuating outdoor winter temperatures including freezing for 3 months. Gradually increase light and temperature in spring.
Sowing advice: For best results, sow seeds as soon as you receive them in a cool place onto a good soil-based compost. Cover the seeds with fine grit or compost to approximately their own depth. These seeds can be very slow indeed to germinate, and as a rule they wait for spring before emerging whenever they are sown. Please be very patient, and do not discard the seed pan, no matter how long it takes for germination to occur
Germination: The sowing must be kept warm (about +18 to 22°C) [about 64 to 72°F] and moist for the first 2-4 weeks. After this period the sowing must be kept at a cold temperature (between -4 and +4°C) [between 25 and 39°F] for another 4-6 weeks. It is not so important if the temperature is higher or lower during the cooling period, but the cooling period has to be prolonged because the synthesis of the germination inducer, hormonlike acid, slows down or comes to a standstill. It is beneficial to cover the sowing with snow during the cooling-period. The temperature below it usually keeps in the optimum range of -4 to 0°C [25 to 32°F]. The sowing is kept moist, and the melting snow helps to destroy the shell, which is advantageous for the germinating seedling. After this cooling-period the sowing may not be immediately exposed to high temperatures. The most effective temperatures are between +5 to 12°C [41 to 54°F], even if germination has started. The best location for this sowing, even in March, April and May, is the open field, the cold frame or a cold greenhouse.
Aconitum red wine, 20 I 4 uger
Agrostis nebulosa fibre optics 29/1 15◦
Amsonia eastwoodiana, halvdelen 24/1, ved 5 grader
Amsoniia eastwoodiana 29/1
Sow at Max. 5ºC (41ºF) for 6 weeks, move to 20ºC (68ºF) for germ. in a few days. If no germ. in 3 wks, dig out seeds and give them 8 to 12 hr. soak.
Sow the quite large seeds flat in any rich, well drained soil, keep pots in a sheltered spot outside during winter. Transplant young roots to the garden as soon as leaves wither in late autumn.

This species needs special care as described.
Special Care: add detergent to water when soaking, sow in equal parts of peat, loam and grit with extra richness at bottom of pot, space 2" apart, allow absolutely no light during germination, provide steady supply of moisture, grow on in pot for 18 months, keeping leaves on as long as possible, stratification may be fatal

Meconopsis wallichii
Sowing advice: Seeds can be sown at any time but are best sown in early spring covering them very thinly in a cool spot. Seeds usually appear within 4 to 6 weeks. Pot on into loose, peaty compost into 3 inch pots and grow on small plants in a shaded spot or with cover to protect from hot sun. Plant out finally into a moist, well-manured, peaty or organic soil, in shade if possible.
What follows is my personal recipe developed from 30 odd years' experience. This produces very good plants by early summer. Seed is sown into a sterile compost in mid January. Peat-based compost is probably best and it should not be heavily pressed down. If you wish to use an alternative to peat make sure it is a very light open compost. There is nothing magic about the seed compost and a John Innes type is as good. I used to add sieved leaf mould but am a little wary of this in case it introduces fungal pathogens. Meconopsis seed has quite good food reserves in it and seedlings grow away rapidly if happy. It is imperative that you sow the seed thinly. The seed needs a covering of about 2-3 mm of compost on top. If you need a lot of plants then use a big tray and if you are worried about the quality of the seed you still must not sow it too thickly just in case it does all come. I leave the seed pots (watered from below) in the cold under glass for about 3 weeks and then apply heat underneath from warming cables with a thermostat setting of about 15C. The seed pots are left in full light and if they need watering at this stage it is better done from below in order to avoid washing the seed together into clumps. Germination is usually quite rapid (it can vary by 3 weeks between different seed batches). If germination does not occur in about 6 weeks it probably wont! With rare seed and with M. punicea it is worth saving the pots for a second year.
Myosotidium hortensia
To stop the germination inhibition give seeds a warm compost (about 22°C) [about 72°F] with constant humidity for at least 6 weeks. Then keep cold (-4 to +4 °C) [25 to 39°F] for 6-8 weeks. Usually, the germination starts at +4°C [39°F]. Raise temperatures gradually up to +10°C [50°F] until germination is completed. If the warm or cold period was not long enough the seeds will not germinate until the following year. They will then need another warm period (summer) and a cold period (winter).

Rhodichiton 20  Sowing advice: Sow seeds, covering them thinly, at any time but in good light, at between 10 and 20 degrees C. Prick out small seedlings into 3 inch/8cm pots containing a John Innes, loam-based compost. Grow on before planting into a large container or sheltered spot outdoors, and be sure to protect them from freezing in winter.

  2. Whauuuu! Fik mine frø hjem fra Plant World Seeds i går.
